The London Library 184th Annual General Meeting 2025
The Library’s 184th Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday 25 November. We were delighted to see a full Reading Room and many more joined us online.
Simon Godwin introduced the AGM as Chair of The London Library and reports were given by Director, Phillip Marshall, and Treasurer, John Colenutt, including news that:
- Membership grew for a seventh consecutive year and has the highest number since 2008
- The Library’s finances produced a small operating surplus
- Over 4,890 new books and 610 eBooks were added to the collection and almost 60,000 books and over 5,000 eBooks were loaned.
Matthew Brooke, Director of Collections and Services updated the AGM on acquisitions, collections and the new Archive and Research Room.
Dr Stephanie Hall, Chair of the Library’s Buildings & Facilities Committee presented an update on the Library’s building project. Following this there was a welcome discussion with members, particularly in relation to Phase 2, with a range of comments raised from members.
The 2024-2025 Annual Reports and Accounts were adopted, and the Trustees' proposals for membership fees, subscriptions and charges were confirmed. MHA were confirmed as auditors for the 2025/25 financial year.
