For 180 years, The London Library has stood as one of the UK's greatest literary institutions, inspiring creativity and ideas. Our esteemed members, past and present, include literary giants like Charles Dickens, Charles Darwin, Virginia Woolf, and contemporary authors such as Kazuo Ishiguro and Sarah Waters. Our collection boasts around one million books, a vast eLibrary, and an invaluable postal loans service, making it a sanctuary for those who cherish the written word. About the role

The London Library runs a busy, multifaceted and wide-ranging Programme of events and activities. Alongside events for our members, we run an eclectic Public Events Programme, which is open to all and includes panel discussions, high-profile speaker events, performances, music and poetry nights, salon events and more; an Emerging Writers Programme for 40 new writers each year; and a diverse and inclusive Learning & Participation Programme for schools and community organisations.

We are seeking a Programme Administrator to join our dedicated Programmes team. This pivotal role will work across the entire Programme, to assist in the delivery and administration of all Programme events and activities. This will also include assisting in the integration and co-ordination of programming in the Library’s forthcoming new event space (currently known as the Discovery Space).

About you

You are an enthusiastic professional skilled in:

Events Administration Proven experience in events administration, delivering public events.

Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; able to work collaboratively and maintain confidentiality (GDPR aware).

Organisation & Problem-Solving: Skilled in prioritising tasks, managing multiple projects and applying sound judgment with flexibility.

Technical & Analytical Skills: Proficient in IT (MS Office, CRM, ticketing platforms), budgeting and data analysis.

Passion & Alignment: Genuine interest in literature and enthusiasm for the Library’s mission.
