Write & Shine: City of Dreams - William Blake & Virginia Woolf (Online)

Join Write & Shine bright and early, live from The London Library for a 90-minute virtual writing workshop exploring London and the dreamlike writing it inspires.

We'll look at the work of William Blake (1757 to 1827), whose prophetic imagination saw London alive with spiritual possibility, and Virginia Woolf (1882-1941), who saw the city as a shifting dreamscape of perception. We’ll consider London as a place of surreal encounters and unexpected transformations and we’ll write our own visions of London as a city of dreams, where the familiar becomes strange, and the strange becomes luminous.

This workshop is part of a series of morning writing sessions led by author Gemma Seltzer, inspired by The London Library’s rich literary heritage. Together we’ll uncover London as a secret city—a landscape of dreams, disguises and shadows.

Write & Shine workshops take place in the early morning light - the best time to think, dream and imagine! You won’t be expected to share your writing, which offers great freedom and encourages all kinds of fascinating ideas to emerge.

This is an online workshop via Zoom. Please log in at 7:30am for 7:45am start. You will be sent a Zoom link a few days before the workshop (if you do not receive it, please check your junk file or email us).
