Write & Shine: Christabel Pankhurst and the suffragettes (Online)

Start your day with a burst of creativity!

Join Write & Shine bright and early, live from The London Library for a 90-minute virtual writing workshop that takes the work and ideas of Christabel Pankhurst and her fellow suffrage campaigners as inspiration.

Christabel Pankhurst joined the The London Library in 1915 while in semi-exile in Paris and heavily involved with the WSPU. From wartime France, she requested books to be posted to her and remained a member for several years. This session will focus on the writing, reading and ideas of Pankhurst during her time as a Library member, as well as the relationships she formed with other campaigners and Library members including Annie Kenney, Mary Patricia Willcocks, Mary Dormer Harris and Charlotte Payne-Townshend

This is the fourth in a series of five morning writing workshops led by author Gemma Seltzer, celebrating the friendships, societies and creative communities that found inspiration at The London Library.

Write & Shine workshops takes place in the early morning light - the best time to think, dream and imagine! You won’t be expected to share your writing, which offers great freedom and encourages all kinds of fascinating ideas to emerge.

Login at 7.30am for 7.45am start. You will be sent a Zoom link a few days before the workshop (if you do not receive it, please check your junk file or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
