The London Library is an internationally important centre of creativity with an outstanding collection of books and resources. We are a registered charity dedicated to the advancement of education, learning and knowledge and are looking to recruit a knowledgeable Stack Manager to help maintain our collection.
Working as part of our Collection Care team, you will help keep our book stock in good condition as well as plan the use of space, allowing for collection growth and effective browsing access for members. This will involve maintaining up-to-date floor plans and shelf capacity measurements as well as liaising with external contractors working on book move projects. You will monitor the condition of the book stacks and identify strategies to deal with any problems too. You will also oversee book cleaning schedules and our rate books procedures, and update records. Important will be the ability to develop and train direct reports and volunteers.
Ideally with a library background, you will have experience of repairing books and training and supervising staff. You will also possess excellent communication, interpersonal and PC skills too. With an eye for detail, you will be good at managing multiple projects, overcoming problems and prioritising your workload. Of course, you must be able to undertake physical duties such as reaching high and low shelves, moving heavy books and such like.
If you have the skills we are looking for, we would be delighted to hear from you.
