Philip Marshall


Philip began his career as a solicitor, qualifying in 1996, and specialising in commercial law for the IT, media and publishing sectors. After completing an MBA at London Business School, Philip joined the British Museum in 2003. Over an 11 year period at the Museum, Philip’s roles included Head of Commercial and Director of International Engagement. He then worked as Director of Business Development at the Royal Albert Hall and Director of Development at Sadler’s Wells.

Peter Hyde MSci ACA DChA


Peter graduated in 2001 from the University of Birmingham with an MSci (Hons) in Physics. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Sayer Vincent, a firm specialising in the not-for-profit sector, where he also received the ICAEW’s Diploma in Charity Accounting. He subsequently spent two and a half years auditing EU funded humanitarian aid projects with the accountancy firm PKF Littlejohn. He continued his career working in various finance roles for a number of organisations including CLIC Sargent, Malaria Consortium and most recently EveryChild where he was Head of Finance. He joined The London Library in January 2017.

Philip Spedding BCom


Having gained a business degree at the University of British Columbia, Philip has spent most of his working life in the arts.  Having fundraised for the arts over a number of years, he joined Arts & Business and, over the subsequent 16 years, encouraged both businesses and arts organizations to recognize how they can work together for their mutual benefit.  Businesses seeking his advice have ranged from American Express in New York and Samsung in Seoul to Deutsche Bank in London and Lexus in Vienna. He eventually became the Director of Arts & Business. He has sat on the UK Treasury’s Charity Tax Forum and has advised governments both in the UK and abroad on the development of private sector support of the arts, speaking on the subject in many countries including Albania, Canada, China, Russia, South Korea, Viet Nam and across both Europe and the UK.  He also sits on the Management team of the Charity Tax Group, is the Vice Treasurer of the Lambeth Horticultural Society and is a trustee of Action for Children’s Art. He joined The London Library as their Development Director in May 2014.
