The London Library is deeply saddened by the death of our Patron, Her Majesty The Queen. We offer our condolences to the Royal Family at this time.

Her Majesty became our Patron in 2004, after the death of our former Patron, the Queen Mother, in 2002. We are grateful to her for her service and commitment to the Library over many years. We will be writing to Buckingham Palace to share our condolences.

As a mark of respect, the Library will be closed on Monday 19 September for Her Majesty’s funeral. We will remain open as usual on other days.

A two-minute silence also took place at 11am on Friday 9 September and The Library flew a flag at half-mast.

We ask all visitors to the Library to be considerate and respectful during this period of national mourning. A book of condolence is available for members to sign in the Issue Hall.
