The First Folio at Shakespeare's Globe

Venue: Shakespeare's Globe
William Shakespeare’s reputation as the world’s foremost literary genius is due entirely to the survival of the First Folio. 18 of the 36 plays published in the First Folio had not yet been printed at all - without it, we may not have plays such as Twelfth Night, Julius Caesar and The Tempest. It is generally accepted that approximately 750 copies of the First Folio were printed. Of these, 235 copies are still known to exist, and only 40 of these are known to be complete.
Join us at the home of Shakespeare in London, Shakespeare’s Globe, for a display and discussion with Shakespeare’s Globe staff on the history and significance of the Folio.
