REPRESENTATIVE MEMBERSHIP
(for companies, organisations, other libraries etc.)
Institutions, associations, organisations and commercial bodies may take out ‘corporate’ membership of the Library on an annual basis: the annual fee is £1,125.00, with a reduction to £750.00 per annum for registered charities and educational bodies. There is a special pricing structure for public library authorities; please contact the Membership Department for further details.
Applicants are asked to appoint a designated representative (who may be changed at any time) who has responsibility for all books borrowed. A representative may appoint two nominees (also transferable) who become authorised to make use of the Library in the representative's name. The representative or nominees may then permit books borrowed from the Library to be used by all members or employees of the body represented on the premises of that body.
Representative members based in London are allowed to hold on loan up to ten volumes at a time, and those in the country (ie more than twenty miles from the Library) have a basic allowance of fifteen volumes. The fee for every further five volumes (up to a maximum of 40) is £99.00 per annum for educational and charitable institutions, and £165.00 for all other bodies.
