FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I have to be a member of The London Library to attend?
No. With the exception of the Party In The Square, all events are open to the public.
Do I have to buy my tickets online?
Library members will be able to buy a limited number of tickets in person at Reception (subject to availability). These tickets will attract no booking fee. All other ticket purchases must be made online. If you have no online access or experience difficulties in using the online booking system please contact us on 01225 462967 and we will be able to help.
Is there a discount for Library members?
The cost of holding Words In The Square is considerable and we are relying on ticket sales and sponsorship to make it cost-neutral for The London Library (a registered charity). There is no specific discount but Library members have the benefit of being able to book tickets before the general public, and also the chance to avoid booking fees by buying directly from the Library Reception Desk. Day and weekend passes also represent a significant saving on the cost of individual tickets.
Why is there a price difference between day and evening events?
The Gala evening events (Party In The Square; Tom Stoppard In Conversation and Craig Brown: An A-Z of humour and special guest Dillie Keane) are special fundraising events in support of the Library. These events are longer than daytime events and include complimentary refreshments.
I cannot or did not print my tickets – is there somewhere I can collect these on the day?
There is a ticket collection point at the marquee. Please make sure you arrive in good time as this desk may be busy.
I have printed but lost my ticket - can it be replaced?
If you have your email confirmation from Eventbrite, you can reprint your ticket from the email.
Will I have to prove I am a Library member to buy tickets at the Library Reception?
Yes, you will be asked to show your Library membership card.
Is there a limit to the number of tickets I can buy for each event at Library Reception?
No, except for the Party In The Square where tickets are limited to two (one for the member and one for a non-member coming as their guest).
Can Library members bring guests to the Party In The Square?
Yes, members can purchase one guest ticket (only) when they purchase a ticket.
I have purchased 2/3 sessions at face value but am now free all day, can I upgrade to day ticket?
I would like to book for a group, how can I do this and is there a discount?
I have purchased tickets but now find I cannot come – can I get a refund?
If an event is cancelled or a speaker does not appear, will I get a refund?
Whilst we will make every effort to ensure events and speakers are as described, we do reserve the right to replace or change events if this is unavoidable. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer refunds unless we are unable to offer an event in a particular timeslot or if 50% of a line-up is changed. We will refund if single speaker events are cancelled. Other sessions will be subject to speaker replacement or will go ahead with a reduced number of speakers. In the event of a refund the amount refunded will be limited to the face value of tickets for single event bookings or a proportion of single or multi-day passes.
